After earning his law degree from Northwestern University, Mr. Malloy co-founded the Firm in 1959 as one of the first Registered Patent Attorneys in the State of Florida. He served for many years in the Florida House of Representatives, as a member of the National Highway Safety Advisory Committee of President Gerald R. Ford, and as President of the South Florida chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Malloy was also a Professor of Patent Law at the University of Miami School of Law.

PETER A. MATOS

PETER A. MATOS

As a Registered Patent Attorney with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a law degree from the University of Miami, Mr. Matos is a Partner with the Firm and concentrates his practice in the areas of Patent Prosecution, Licensing, and Infringement Opinions. He has appeared on several national television programs discussing intellectual property, guest-lectured for law school and paralegal courses, and spoken at various professional conferences.  Mr. Matos is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law, fluent in Spanish, and a member of the Cuban-American Bar Association.

As a Registered Patent Attorney with a backgrund in the Applied Sciences, Ms. Malloy is the Senior Partner of the Firm and oversees the Patent Prosecution group. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Michigan and her law degree from the University of Miami. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and regularly lectures on Patent Law. Ms. Malloy has also litigated at the Trial and Appellate levels.

As the Partner overseeing the Firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation group, Mr. Malloy concentrates his practice on Trial and Appellate Litigation.  He also focuses on International Portfolio Management, filing trademark applications and directing enforcement proceedings around the globe.  Mr. Malloy taught for nearly a decade as an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at St. Thomas University Law School.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from the University of Miami.  During his tenure as the Chair of the International Trademark Association’s Model State Trademark Bill from 2003 to 2007, Mr. Malloy oversaw the passage of trademark legislation in a half dozen states and personally spear-headed the enactment of Florida’s present trademark statute, which became effective in 2007.  He is also Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law.

Mr. Ransom holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, where he graduated with honors. He earned his law degree, with high distinction, from the Ohio State College of Law. Mr. Ransom concentrates his practice in the areas of Trademark and Copyright Prosecution, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Transactions. He is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law.

David A. Gast

Mr. Gast earned his bachelor's degree from Emory University and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Miami School of Law. He concentrates his practice in Intellectual Property Litigation, Trademark Prosecution, and Internet Law.  Mr. Gast is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law and has published several articles in the field of copyright and domain name disputes.

Mr. Fulton is a Registered Patent Attorney having earned his degree in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Miami School of Law. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Patent Prosecution and Infringement Opinions. Mr. Fulton obtained considerable engineering experience prior to joining the bar, and maintains his Registration as a Professional Engineer in the States of Florida and Ohio.  He is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law and serves as an officer of the Inventor’s Society of South Florida.

 Meredith Frank

Ms. Frank earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, with honors, and her law degree from the University of Florida, with honors. She concentrates her practice in Intellectual Property Litigation, Trademark Prosecution, Copyright Law and Entertainment Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice in the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. Ms. Frank is also a member of the International Trademark Association, the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the Florida Bar, and LegalArt .

Mr. Ferreiro earned his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Florida.  He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he also served as Research Editor for the Florida Law Review.  He concentrates his practice in Trademark Prosecution, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Copyright Law.

James E. Wetterling, Jr.

With a degree in Civil Engineering and extensive experience in Federal and Administrative Litigation, Mr. Wetterling is a Registered Patent Attorney and concentrates his practice in the areas of Litigation and Patent Prosecution. Having earned his law degree from the University of Miami, he has returned on several occasions to lecture on Patent Law. Mr. Wetterling is also a member of the New Jersey Bar.  He is Of Counsel to the Firm.

Mr. Ruiz earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and a law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he served as a board member for the Moot Court Board, and as President of the Student Bar Association.  Mr. Ruiz concentrates his practice in Intellectual Property Litigation, and is fluent in Spanish.

With a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida and thirty-five (35) years of experience in Patent Searching and Drafting, Mr. Orman is a non-lawyer member of the Firm’s patent staff. He assists the Firm’s patent attorneys with patent research and application preparation.
