After earning his law degree from Northwestern University, Mr. Malloy co-founded the Firm in 1959 as one of the first Registered Patent Attorneys in the State of Florida. He served for many years in the Florida House of Representatives, as a member of the National Highway Safety Advisory Committee of President Gerald R. Ford, and as President of the South Florida chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Malloy was also a Professor of Patent Law at the University of Miami School of Law.

As a Registered Patent Attorney with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a law degree from the University of Miami, Mr. Matos is a Partner with the Firm, is Board Certified as an Expert in Intellectual Property Law, and concentrates his practice in the areas of Patent Prosecution, Litigation, Licensing, and Infringement Opinions. In addition to serving as an expert witness in the field of patent law, he has appeared on several national and local television programs discussing intellectual property, guest-lectured for law school and paralegal courses, and spoken at various professional conferences.  Mr. Matos is a published author in the field of Intellectual Property Law, is fluent in Spanish, and is a member of the Cuban-American Bar Association.

As a Registered Patent Attorney with a background in the Applied Sciences, Ms. Malloy is the Senior Partner of the Firm, is Board Certified as an Expert in Intellectual Property Law, and oversees the Patent Prosecution group. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Michigan and her law degree from the University of Miami. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and regularly lectures on Patent Law. Ms. Malloy has also litigated at the Trial and Appellate levels.

As the Partner overseeing the Firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation group, Mr. Malloy is Board Certified as an Expert in Intellectual Property Law and concentrates his practice on Trial and Appellate Litigation.  He also focuses on International Portfolio Management, filing trademark applications and directing enforcement proceedings around the globe.  Mr. Malloy taught for nearly a decade as an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at St. Thomas University Law School.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from the University of Miami.  During his tenure as the Chair of the International Trademark Association’s Model State Trademark Bill from 2003 to 2007, Mr. Malloy oversaw the passage of trademark legislation in a half dozen states and personally spear-headed the enactment of Florida’s present trademark statute, which became effective in 2007. In 2009 Mr. Malloy was named the Chairman of the DCBA Intellectual Property Committee.

John Fulton, Jr.

Mr. Fulton is a Registered Patent Attorney having earned his degree in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Miami School of Law. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Patent Prosecution and Infringement Opinions, is a member of the Florida Bar and is attmitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Eastern District of Texas. Mr. Fulton obtained considerable engineering experience prior to joining the bar, and maintains his Registration as a Professional Engineer in the States of Florida and Ohio.  He is Board Certified as an expert in Intellectual Property Law and has served as an officer of the Inventor’s Society of South Florida.

MEREDITH FRANK MENDEZ

Ms. Mendez earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, with honors, and her law degree from the University of Florida, with honors. She is Board Certified as an Expert in Intellectual Property Law and concentrates her practice in Intellectual Property Litigation, Trademark Prosecution, Copyright Law and Entertainment Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice in the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. Ms. Mendez is also Co-Chair of the Attorney's Network of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and a member of the International Trademark Association, the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the Florida Bar, and LegalArt.

Mr. Ferreiro earned his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Florida.  He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he also served as Research Editor for the Florida Law Review.  He concentrates his practice in Trademark Prosecution, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Copyright Law.  Mr. Ferreiro is admitted to practice law in Florida and New York state courts, as well as in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

James E. Wetterling, Jr.

James E. Wetterling, Jr.

With a degree in Civil Engineering and extensive experience in Federal and Administrative Litigation, Mr. Wetterling is a Registered Patent Attorney and concentrates his practice in the areas of Litigation and Patent Prosecution. Having earned his law degree from the University of Miami, he has returned on several occasions to lecture on Patent Law. Mr. Wetterling is also a member of the New Jersey Bar.  He is Of Counsel to the Firm.

 

OLIVER RUIZ

Mr. Ruiz earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and a law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he served as a board member for the Moot Court Board, and as President of the Student Bar Association.  Mr. Ruiz is admitted to practice law in Florida and North Carolina state courts, as well as, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  Mr. Ruiz is currently the Vice Chair of the Dade County Bar Association's Bullettin Committee, and is an active member of several bar associations, including the American Bar Association, the Inter-American Intellectual Property Association (ASIPI), the Cuban American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association, as well as with the Rotary Club of Miami.  Mr. Ruiz is fluent in Spanish and concentrates his practice in Intellectual Property Litigation, Trademark Prosecution, and Copyright Law.

As a Registered Patent Attorney, Mr. LaCosse concentrates his practice in Patent and Trademark Prosecution, Intellectual Property Enforcement, and Licensing.  He maintains an AV-Preeminent peer rating by Martindale-Hubbell, is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as an expert in Intellectual Property Law, and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.  Mr. LaCosse is an active member of the Dade County Bar Association, serving on the DCBA Membership Committee and the DCBA Intellectual Property Committee.  Mr. LaCosse earned his bachelor's degree in Applied Physics with honors from Michigan Tech, his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and his law degree from the University of Denver.

JESSICA HAUTH

Ms. Hauth earned her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and her master's degree in Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology from Emory University, and her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.  She has published her research in the areas of developmental biology, genetics, heterochromatin assembly and maintenance, and RNAi use and characterization.  She is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Dade County Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta.  She is admitted to practice law in Florida state courts, as well as in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  As a Registered Patent Attorney, she concentrates her practice on Patent Prosecution and Intellectual Property Litigation.
